Original Photos 2

A motley bunch! Probably somewhere on the Eastern front, 1941-42

Cavalry NCOs relaxing, either pre-war or 1939-40

A rather interesting photo postcard dated 1937 on the rear. The soldier is an Oberfeldwebel
but what is interesting is that the negative was reversed in printing - look at what side his
sword and long service award bar are on!

A wehrmacht assault course, dated 1939 on the rear.

A nice shot of some Kradschutzen or motorcycle troops somewhere very wet!
All apart from the man on the left wear the rubber motorcycle coat. Note the man on
the left is wearing his gasmask in the regulation position for motorcyclists.

A great studio portrait of an infantry Leutnant and his wife dated 6th June 1943.
He is from the 77th Infantry Regiment and wears the EK2 and Winterschlacht im Osten
ribbons. He also wears the Infantry Assault Badge, black wound badge and the sports
badge. I believe the medal on the bar above his pocket is probably the Westwall medal.
I would think that he is a newly commissioned Officer who has come through the ranks due
to him being a Leutnant with so many awards.

An MG34 on lafette mount. At first glance it looks as though the negative has been reversed
due to the gun feeding from the right. However you can see the gunner is using the optical sight
on the correct side of the laffette. This means this is a rare early dual feed model of the MG34.
On the back the it says this is on the Polish border the day before the war broke out.

This is a set of pictures of what looks like a seaborne landing or exercise. I would take a guess
and say it was fairly early in the war, possibly in Norway or in the Baltic.

Most of the Officers look old which means they are reservists

The Officer with glasses (above two photos) is wearing a Reichsheer tunic

Trawlers line astern behind the freighter

Troops erecting a barbed wire obstacle on the training ground near Koln. This photo is dated 1938.
You can see the man nearest the camera has turned back cuffs meaning he is wearing a
Reichswehr tunic. What is also interesting is that they appear to be wearing some kind of frame
on their backs although the A frame wasn't introduced until 1939

A photo dated 1940 of troops on the move. Some are carrying heavy weapons.
It's in France, possibly somewhere in the Pyrenees
The following eight photographs are all of what I believe to be the same barracks complex. I'm not sure where they are although one has a stamp for 'Photo - Konter, Bielefeld, Horst Wessel Strasse 87'.

The main gate, note the sentry in front of the box.

Two night views of the main gate

Troops on the march

A company marching between barrack blocks, note the cases the NCOs are carrying

More barrack blocks with two vehicles in the foreground

A view of the horse paddock. This is the type of place where Leutnant Hager would hone
his horsemanship skills in peacetime!
