M34 Field cap (Feldmutze)

This cap was made in same field grey material of the tunic and was in use until replaced by the similar M42 cap.

It had a boat shape with scalloped side panels. The insignia was a separate national eagle and black, red and white cockade. The branch of service was indicated by the inverted chevron on the front - white being infantry. This was called the waffenfarbe or arm of service colour.
